CV Format for Pakistan: What to Include and What to Skip

Traditional CVs in Pakistan often begin with a long list of personal data: father name, date of birth, CNIC, domicile and marital status. Many companies, especially multinationals and IT firms, now prefer a short, modern CV that focuses on skills and results. The right choice depends on the employer.

What is usually expected

  • Full name, phone number, e-mail and city
  • Career summary
  • Work experience and education in reverse order
  • Skills and languages
  • References (or "available on request")

What is optional

  • Photo: private schools, banks, hotels and government-related jobs often like one. Many corporate and IT employers do not require it.
  • Date of birth, nationality, marital status: add them when the advert asks.
  • CNIC number: only provide it when the employer asks during the hiring process. Publishing it on every CV online is a privacy risk.
  • Father name: traditional in government and some local forms; optional elsewhere.

Our builder makes this simple

In the CV builder only your name is mandatory. Everything else, such as date of birth, nationality and CNIC, is added with a small "+" button, so you can match each CV to the employer.
